Hi Mandy. Dad's PA was only diagnosed in 1997 aged 68 but there are times when we look back now and we wonder if any of these things were signs.

About 1970 - early 40s - psoriasis broke out (due to a very stressful period in his job).
1981 - early 50s - he suffered a mini-breakdown (because of a stressful time in his job)
Retired from that job at 58.

After a couple of years retirement he got himself another, less stressful, job. By the time he was 63 he found he couldn't concentrate too well and was making errors - not like him.

Retired again at 65 and 3 years later was diagnosed with PA and pre-cancerous stomach cells!

I reckon they were symptoms way back in the 70s but never picked up.

The rest is history!!!

Jac
Both of my parents were diagnosed with PA. Mum is on 2 monthly injections and relatively OK. Dad progressed to dementia and sadly died 14/2/13. Despite my own levels being 'normal' I have some symptoms. Jac.

I was well into my sixties when my GP diagnosed 'non-anaemic' Pernicious Anaemia.

But when I was 50 or 51 I'd been diagnosed with an incurable neurology problem. Because of my stumbling I was even checked out for 'Mad Cow Disease'.

I'm so happy I found this forum, I wasn't the only strange child! I'm 23 now but when I was a child I had recurrent urinary tract infections. I had every scan under the sun and they never found a reason. They decided I grew out of them in my teens, also plagued with dental abscesses all my life. Trying to get a reinfected root canal sorted at the minute, my previous dentist root canaled 4 teeth around it because they didn't realise it's the same tooth infected again. I actually had 3 abscesses at the same time at one point.
Like someone else on this thread my mum says a slept unbelievably well as a small child.
Although maybe I don't count, I don't have a proper diagnosis so don't really want to jinx myself or something :(

Since topic of dentistry has come up, I am reminded of the Dangers of Nitrous Oxide used in sedation or in dentistry. You might want to look at this regarding your root canal, etc.

Nitrous completely knocks out your b 12 and folate.

I have 12 silver fillings (shameful lol) and mum says she has loads too, she also said dental was free when she was pregnant so she probably did get stuff done.
Yea I don't think my dentist even does laughing gas, I had it years ago at the old one. My orthodontist has decided he can do braces so I'm getting the root canal pulled, as well as the same tooth on the other side :( not looking forward to that.
